Your TNW Weekly Recap - 3/29/2025
Published 2 days ago • 3 min read
Wow I am way late on sending last week's recap but I've been at the IWLA Conference in San Antonio since Saturday night soaking in all the 3PL knowledge.
This was my first time attending their conference and my second IWLA event ever. I had quite a few people ask me about the conference and if it would be good for them to attend prior to going. I told them I wasn't sure because I had never been but now I can fully say that it is absolutely worth it if you are a 3PL.
The community and relationships that the IWLA members have are incredibly strong and even though they would be considered competitors they are more than willing to share insights, best practices and advance the industry together. I was really impressed by this and some of the long running relationships that were in the room.
From a content perspective they had amazing sessions that were focused on real problems that 3PLs are facing from regulatory to M&A to transitioning into fulfillment from pallet in pallet out. It really covered the spectrum for 3PLs of any size. They even have a small facility council to focus on those just getting started and looking to grow.
I presented on technologies specifically for the 3PL space and my focus was on what is actually attainable for 3PLs right now. We discussed how to navigate the abundance of technology in the warehouse space and what are the actual viable solutions beyond the tech hype. A lot of the focus of my session was on technologies that are taking the human to the next level and utilizing existing infrastructure.
Next year the conference is in Puerto Rico so if the content isn't alluring enough I'm sure the setting will be!

Monday's Episode - Finding a Home for Excess 3PL Inventory
In this episode of The New Warehouse Podcast, Kevin chats with Abby Nawrocki, CEO and Founder of Stock. Abby brings deep experience in operations and logistics, having worked with companies like DHL, Radial, Shopify, and Flexport. Her company, Stock, focuses on solving a growing supply chain problem: excess 3PL inventory.
Through a marketplace model, Stock connects warehouses and brands with nonprofit organizations that can use surplus goods. The conversation explores how excess 3PL inventory builds up, why traditional liquidation often fails, and how alternative channels, such as donation, can create both financial and social value for modern warehouse operators.
Join Kevin from The New Warehouse Podcast at Manifest 2026 in Las Vegas as he speaks with Jay Knafel from Jitsu about the evolving landscape of last-mile delivery. In this video, they discuss how Jitsu leverages a sophisticated technology stack to provide superior service, visibility, and control for both shippers and recipients.
In this episode of The New Warehouse Podcast, Kevin chats with Dave Gutierrez, Vice President of Sales at OLIMP Warehousing. OLIMP operates a digital marketplace that connects available warehouse capacity with companies that need fast logistics support.
The conversation explores the growing demand for on-demand warehousing and why it is becoming an essential tool for brokers, carriers, and warehouse operators. Gutierrez explains how OLIMP helps solve urgent freight problems, particularly when shipments are rejected, damaged, or delayed.
By connecting warehouses with immediate service opportunities, OLIMP enables businesses to recover disrupted shipments while helping warehouses monetize unused labor and space.

Kevin Lawton recently posted about warehouse automation's reputation and whether or not it was in danger. Raising the question that as failed projects stack up, does that deter many from even trying automation in the first place. This created a large discussion on the LinkedIn post.
In this live session Kevin was joined by Parth Pethani from the Whserobotics Newsletter and Prologis Essentials and discussed what's really going on with warehouse automation and how you should be approaching it the right way.

Hope you're having a great week so far! I'm getting ready to head off to San Antonio for IWLA's Annual Convention. It's my first time attending so not quite sure what to expect but after a great experience at their Fulfillment Forum last year I believe it will be a very valuable few days. On Sunday night we'll be hosting a Warehousing After Dark in person event if you'll be at IWLA or if you'll be in the San Antonio area. Register here if so! Definitely excited to get some industry folks...
Last week I had the pleasure of being on site at Dexory's North American HQ for their grand opening in Nashville. They've really put together a nice destination for those that want to explore the possibilities of their solution and a place where you can really see the Dexory bot in action (it's a full on warehouse). While I got to see all the different demos they have there which include inventory auditing, storage health, block counts and more; the best part was getting to moderate a panel...
